Looking across the Kidron Valley from the Mt. of Olives at the Old City of
Jerusalem and Eastern side of the city. Along the Kidron is the Garden of
Gethsemane
.
Looking across the Kidron Valley from the Mt. of Olives, to the left is the
Valley of Hinnom and centered is the Old city of David.
Looking across the Kidron Valley from the Mt. of Olives at the Southern Wall
of the Temple Mount and the Pinnacle where is believed that the second
temptation of Jesus took place
Looking at the Garden of Gethsemane from the Mt of Olives
Looking at a couple of olive trees in the Garden of Gethsemane and it
believed that the roots go back to Jesus time.
You are looking at the hill called Golgotha or the Skull. If you look careful
you can make out the skull in the rock. It would make a person wonder how
clear the outline of the skull was 2000 years ago. This is located at the
Garden Tomb.
This tomb is located at a place called the Garden Tomb located on the
north side of the Old City and was definitely in Jesus time located
outside the city and on the road to Damascus. There is also evidence of
a garden located at this site with a well to draw water.
In the tomb is a buriel spot, this is could be the place where Jesus was laid
to rest.
Looking at the Southern Wall of the Temple Mount. This is where Solomon
Stables would have been located. It would have been the entrance to the
Temple Mount for offering up sacrifices, people would have entered
through the Hulda gates. Some say this is where Peter was at when he
preached to the 3000 converts because of the availability of the baptismal
tanks. This is probably where Jesus was at the age of 12 when his parents
came looking for him.
Eastern Gate or Golden Gate where Jesus will enter when He returns.
The Moslems have placed a cemetery in front of the gate because they
believe Elijah will return prior to Jesus and Elijah would not want to
make himself unclean by walking through a cemetery.
As you look straight away at the Eastern Gate you can see the Dome of
the Rock located to the left. This shows that there is room to build the
third temple without destroying the Dome on the Rock. You also need to
keep in mind there is a fault line under the temple mount and the Mt of
Olives. According to Zechariah 14:8, it says that "Living waters will go
out from Jerusalem, half of them to the eastern sea (likely the Dead Sea)
and half to the western sea (the Mediterranean).
As we stand on the Mt of Olives, directly in front of us is a Jewish cemetery
